I was just informed by an employee of the Instituto Chileno-Norteamericano, an American who teaches English as a second language, that employees are offered Spanish lessons at no charge. This perk is quite valuable to say the least. So, in addition to helping one get a work visa, which is a money saver and an important legal asset, English teachers at this (most famous and well-respected) institute also get economic benefits from free Spanish lessons. There are approximately 200 English teachers at this institute.

So now you have another good reasons to come to Chile, supporting yourself in the interim as an English teacher. Don’t be too proud to teach English!
